29th August 2017, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

If you work with children and young people you'll know how important it is to be aware of current child protection legislation and guidelines.

Gain the knowledge and skills you need to act confidently and appropriately to offer the best support to those you work with.

This training is specific to the Scottish context, linked to GIRFEC, and involves a range of practical exercises to help bring the topic to life and enhance your learning experience.

Key Learning:

  • What is 'child protection'?
  • Use the terms 'child abuse', 'harm' and 'significant harm' appropriately.
  • Identify the indicators of risk
  • Recognise what to do if certain situations present themselves
  • Signpost others and yourself to where to turn for more information.

Who should attend?
This training is relevant to anyone who works with children, either directly or indirectly, in a professional or voluntary context. It will be useful to those who haven't previously undertaken child protection training, as well as to those looking to refresh and update existing knowledge.
