Underprotected, Overprotected: Children with learning disabilities and child sexual exploitation

17th November 2017, 9:30 am - 1:00 pm

£65.00

Any child can be at risk of sexual exploitation (CSE), but research has
revealed that children with learning disabilities are particularly
vulnerable.

This training workshop, aimed at frontline practitioners and managers, will
enhance your understanding of CSE relative to children and young people
with learning disabilities, and equip you to take appropriate action if you
have concerns.

Key learning:

Develop a greater understanding of CSE and the additional vulnerabilities
for children and young people with learning disabilities
Consider the benefits and barriers to working with young people with
learning disabilities at risk of CSE
Be aware of current research and resources, and know what action to
take if you have concerns.

Facilitator bio:

Daljeet Dagon has over 20 years of direct practice and management
experience working with children, young people and families affected by CSE
and associated issues. As well as managing intensive family support
services, Daljeet provides strategic oversight of CSE for Barnardo's
Scotland.

She has significant experience of designing and delivering training
specifically for practitioners, communities and businesses in relation to
CSE as well as participating in influencing, media and policy work in this
area.
