Seminar: Transitions to primary school for BME, Migrant and Refugee children 31 January 2019
31st January 2019, 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Dr Autumn Roesch-Marsh, Edinburgh University writes:
On Thursday the 31st of January from 3 to 5pm I will be running a seminar in partnership with Dr Fiona Morrison (University of Stirling), Steve Gowenlock (Multi-Cultural Family Base) and Emma Watt (Multi-Cultural Family Base) at the University of Edinburgh. The seminar will be held in G1 – Paterson’s Land, Moray House: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Paterson's+Land,+The+University+of+Edinburghemail@example.com,-3.1818908,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x4887c787dbaf4e4f:0xcd0b25472389981!8m2!3d55.9501275!4d-3.1797021
The seminar will explore the findings of a recently completed study which examined the primary school transition experiences of children from BME, migrant and refugee backgrounds in Edinburgh, Scotland. We will reflect on the multiple, complex, concurrent transition experiences of the children and families in this study and the supports that they found helpful. We will also explore the value of group work as a specific approach to supporting primary school transitions, reflecting on the practice experiences of practitioners from the Multi-Cultural Family Base in Edinburgh.
The event is free but tickets must be booked via Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/supporting-bme-migrant-and-refugee-childrens-transitions-to-primary-school-tickets-53685677306
